Partners can use Residential Status data item to determine whether a person is a Singapore Citizen (SC) or Permanent Resident (PR).
This data item is only applicable for SC and PR which implies FIN holders will receive a blank residential status. For the below example, blank residential status is returned:
residentialstatus":{
"code":"",
"desc":"",
"classification":"C",
"source":"1",
"lastupdated":"2024-05-17"
}
Apart from the values of 'Citizen' and 'PR', it is possible for Residential Status to return other value such as 'Alien', 'Unknown' and 'Not Applicable'.
- Residential Status 'Alien' refers to a Singapore Citizen who have renunciate his/her citizenship or a Permanent Resident who have lost his/her residency. It is possible that their Singpass account might still be used within its grace period.
- Residential Status 'Unknown' or 'Not Applicable' refers to legacy records. There are currently no new records with such values, but there might still be old records with such value.
