Please take note if you have a mobile application using Singpass authentication.
As mentioned in our previous call-to-action messages sent in October 2022, February 2023, and March 2023, you will need to migrate from WebView to in-app browser when launching Singpass from your mobile application. Please note that starting from 1 March 2025, any Singpass authentication attempts still using WebView will be blocked, potentially causing a service disruption to your users.
Important Dates:
From 1 February 2025: If Singpass login is launched in a WebView, users will see a message indicating that Singpass logins through your app will no longer be supported in the near future.
From 1 March 2025: Any authentication attempts using a WebView will be blocked. If Singpass login is launched in a WebView, users will see a message indicating that Singpass logins through your app are not supported.
How to Identify the Difference Between WebView and In-App Browser:
URL Address Bar:
- In-App Browser: Displays a visible address bar, allowing users to verify the URL and authenticate the page’s legitimacy.
- WebView: Lacks an address bar, making it difficult for users to confirm the authenticity of the page.
Browser Controls:
- In-App Browser: Shows native browser controls (e.g., back, refresh, “Open in Browser”) typically at the top or bottom of the screen.
- WebView: Relies on app-specific navigation buttons, with no native browser options, often blending with the app’s look.

Behaviour:
- In-App Browser: Appears as a secure mini-version of the device’s default browser, with an option to open in the full browser.
- WebView: Opens within the app frame and lacks the option to open directly in a browser, making it look fully embedded in the app.
