The authentication_context_message is a free-text message that is displayed in the login consent screen to users during login. This message helps provide context about the portal or process the user is accessing, so they understand what they are logging in to or approving. Clear, informative messages build user confidence, and help reduce confusion and the risk of fraudulent or misleading login requests.
You can include the
authentication_context_messageparameter when calling the/parendpoint. Learn more here.⚠️ Note: Authentication context messages can now be configured, but they will not be displayed to users until the rollout is complete in the coming weeks.
Important notes:
-
The
authentication_context_messageis only allowed for Login apps. For Myinfo app, you may configure the app purpose in SDP.Find out how to edit your production Myinfo app to update your app purpose here.
This is a free-text field that can be customized per transaction to match the user’s current journey.
Please ensure it is URL encoded.
There is a 100-character limit, but for best visual presentation we recommend keeping text under 70 characters to avoid truncation.
Please refer to the Singpass Developer Document for more information.
The message should be concise and informative to explain the purpose or intended outcome of the login, or the action the user is about to approve. Here are some guiding questions to help you craft the message:
What services are available to users after they complete the login?
What action is the user trying to complete?
What is the intended outcome?
Some good examples includes:
“Manage your medical services, access health records and pay bills”
“Complete the set up of your mobile banking token”
“Manage and update your CPF nomination”
“Set up GIRO for your tax payment”
“Apply and submit documents for your student loan”
Avoid sending auth context message that is too vague or one/two worded. For example:
“Proceed”
“Log in to the portal”
“Continue with the application”
“Access your account and manage your information”
